The BinG! Harmony College in Olpe
Harmony College is an annual workshop, organized by BinG! especially for
barbershoppers and would-be barbershoppers. It lasts four days and takes
place in the Family Recreation Center "REBOLA" from September 30st until October 3rd.
A wide range of courses and seminars are conducted by a large faculty of
internationally well-known barbershopers. We also offer singing in
female, male and mixed choruses for individuals as well as quartets. The
qualification contest for the Barbershop Music Festival is conducted
here on October 1st.
Courses
The extensive range of courses offered is directed towards singers and musical directors and covers a wide selection of topics. Last year, for example, these were:
- History and development of barbershop music
- Presentation and body language
- Individual voice training
- Choreography
- Conducting
- Notes, intervals, sight-singing
- Aural training
- Speech and synchronisation
- Rhythm and Swing
- Body-Percussion
- Music publishing program Finale Allegro
- and lots more..
The workshop choruses
The two workshop choruses, for men and women, are also a regular feature of Harmony College. They each study two barbershop songs. Music and teach-tapes are provided for these beforehand.
Harmony College climaxes with a final concert, at which not only the choruses can demonstrate what they have learned. Barbershop music is also performed by the participants in the Coesfeld Cup and by other groups.
BinG!´s Harmony College has developed over the last few years into a real magnet for barbershoppers and those interested in barbershop throughout Germany. The wide range of courses, the fun of singing together, (sometimes into the small hours) and the great atmosphere have meant that many participants return again and again.
