International Cooperation

Good things happened for BinG!s international cooperation in Nashville, Tn.

A big part of BinG!s association work is the international collaboration with other Barbershop organizations worldwide. One big partner is the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) – the north American male organization of Barbershop singers. As an affiliate of BHS BinG! gets a lot of organizational and musical support which we are very grateful for. Hence, we are happy about every chance to show what we achieve with our joint efforts. One chance posed itself at the annual international BHS Barbershop Convention in Nashville, Tennessee in July this year when the German Mixed-Barbershop- und medalist chorus Heavy Medal had been invited to represent German Barbershop on an international stage. The chorus convinced critics with high quality singing –many thought not possible for a mixed chorus – as mike cooler, in a Harmony University class and on various stages throughout the week.

Additionally to the sung "persuasion" 2 BinG! representatives were heavily involved in talks and networking: Renate Klocke, BinG! representative for international cooperation introduced Gabriele Rösing, new president of BinG! to the international scene. Intensive talks about future affiliate co-operation, contract design and strategic plans were not only held with Don Fuson, the current BHS president, and Marty Monson, the current BHS CEO, but also with representatives from other affiliates like Sweden, Great Britain and Harmony Inc.

"In every conversation it was palpable how much BinG! has contributed to intensify the international teamwork and increase out Barberhop network over the past years. We really have become a strong partner and worked hard for our voice in important matters,” elaborates Gabriele Rösing. Renate Klocke adds "A lot of Barbershop legends have come to Germany in the past as Judges or Coaches and they all love to come back. We were again able to strengthen existing relationships and open up new contacts which will be a great asset musically, organizationally and personally to develop BinG!s future.”

One result of all the talks was that now every BinG! member will have access to BHS publications that have been reserved for our male BinG! members in the past. The "Harmonizer", the professional journal of the Barberhop world, and the "LifeWire", a weekly BHS newsletter, can be found in the members’ area IN FUTURE:
